Ladybower Reservoir

What a view! Over looking Ladybower Reservoir from Bamford Edge

Another great walk. Well worth the steep hike to enjoy this breathtaking view over Ladybower Reservoir.

The scenery is beautiful and the area is steeped in history. “Ladybower Dam” as it is affectionately known, is made up of three reservoirs linked together, the highest being in the Upper Derwent Valley where lies the source of the River Derwent and the River Ashop.

The top dam is the Derwent, then Howden, and finally Ladybower. This is where the famous Dambusters of World War II fame, practiced, and the bouncing bomb of Barnes Wallace fame were tested.
