Lovely Early Morning Ride Around LadyBower Reservoir

We had a lovely early morning cycle around Ladybower Dams. This beautiful reservoir, situated in the Peak District, 15 minutes drive from Curlew Cottage, is known as the, “Lake District of the Peak” It is particularly stunning at this time of year due to the purple carpet of heather covering the moors.
It is a beautiful setting for a tasty picnic, for walking or cycling, and cycle hire is available from the Upper Derwent Information Centre, based at Fairholmes.
There are breathtaking views, where the water and woodland are topped by the high moors. This area is steeped in history, as the Dams were used during the Second World War as a practice area for the Lancaster Bombers, as they practiced perfecting the,”bouncing bombs” You might even glimse the flooded village of Birchinlee!
